Day 207 - Going on a Ghost Hunt!

The majority of my family decided to drive along the Trans Canada Trail while up north in search of any ghost towns, etc along the route. We found a few sites, but nothing worth stopping for really. (or at least nothing that warranted 5 cars stopping LOL) Anyways, we came across this old cemetery. I was saddened to see so many young children who had passed... many from the diseases of the times. There was also a man who lost 2 wives to childbirth at young ages (Ruth Ellen Downing Vigrass) as well as a couple who lost 2 children in seperate drowning accidents (Lilla Jane, 14, and Edwin Paul, 22). The unmarked stone that I took pictures of I later found was the grave of an infant. A couple had lost 2 babies and they were burried in unmarked graves beside each other. I am not sure why they are unmark however.

I got all of this info above from a book my cousin and I picked up to use when we go back next summer and explore more! It is called "In Celebraion of the Old Nipissing Road" by Helen Stewart. A VALUABLE source of information!!!

The first couple pics I took from the car window to show how windy the roads are. They are so hilly as well. Glad I wasn't driving when it started to rain! LOL
